Post Fursuiting Syndrome

Not to be confused with a particularly shit furniture store that always seems to have a sale on, this evening I am suffering from PFS.

Post Fursuiting Syndrome is weird - I guess it comes about partly due to the dehydration, partly due to the sheer energy required to be bouncy in suit for a protracted period of time and partly due to the emotional input that we put into performing.

Either way, I am so weak and tired right now I may head off to bed.

Today I spent five hours in suit down at the Corus Steel Redcar Family Fun Day. Thankfully the torrents of rain largely held off until ten minutes before the event was scheduled to finish, meaning that Wolfie and I got absolutely soaked taking the suit back to the car. Still, we managed to keep the fragile head dry and whilst all my clothes and the rest of the suit is dripping wet, it's nothing that a good wash won't sort out.

The Family Fun Day itself was in the grounds of Redcar Rugby Club and it was absolutely massive. I was invited down on behalf of Zoe's Place, a local hospice which cares for terminally ill babies and a charity that is very close to my heart. The event itself was the usual fare of acts and funfair rides.

I wanted to do laser quest in fursuit but Wolfie forbade it. He also wouldn't let me go on the bouncy castle either. Still, I was allowed to climb into the back of an Army truck, which was great fun (although the soldier thought that I "wasn't army material". The cheek!! This husky is very fit don't you know but I fear the paws could hinder making a swift getaway).

Entertaining crowds is great fun and today was no exception. I harrassed police officers, pretended to steel tomato chutney from a stall, pounced a sergeant of the British Army (much to the amusement of his squadron), played football and rugby (once the rugby ball collided into my muzzle and it hurt *sobs*), stole someone's (frankly ridiculous) hat and also managed to ride a bike around the complex after a kind teenager let me have a go. I was going to ride on the donkeys but I decided that may verge on animal cruelty, so I gave it a miss.

It was also great making the children smile - it's amazing how they react to a six foot pillock dressed in an animal suit :-) (However there were a few kids who became far too attached and once I was swamped by an entire rugby team - eep).

There was a lot of other family fun things on too including motorcycle acts involving fire, horse stunt acts involving fire, a Laurel and Hardy show involving fire and a fire truck that could do wheelies and various stunts. There was also fire engines (and army vehicles) at the event too but thankfully the fire theme stopped there as fire and inflammable fursuits could have ended in disaster.

The Battle of the Bands contest was interesting and I spent a lot of time practicing my air guitar or singing into an imaginary microphone (at one point I even got asked to wear a pin badge from a local band of teenagers - thankfully, when the guy pinned it on me, he didn't give me a nipple piercing at the same time. I wore that badge with pride - largely because I couldn't see it due to my massive muzzle). There was some good music there but because I was there on business, I couldn't see as much of it as I would have liked.

The same was true of The Crazy Bears Show. I wanted to see just how crazy those bears would be (it's described on the side of their truck as "The Craziest Show In Europe" but I've been to the EU Parliament and that doesn't bear thinkiing about when it comes to craziness) but alas I missed them :-(

Five hours of fursuiting with only three five minute breaks in between can certainly tire you and I think this is the route source of my PFS. Still, the weather was cool and cloudy (which helped) and it was great being out and about in suit once again :-)
