Toy Story 3 3D

There are probably SPOILERS in here but I am sure most of you have seen it by now - I prefer to wait until the cinema is practically empty before I go and see these things. I find it easier to relax in my own curmudgeonly way.

Anyway, I have just seen Toy Story 3 in stereoscopic glory and thought it was good but not brilliant. It didn't utilise the 3D at all really, nothing would have been lost had I watched it in 2D. The plot was very linear, no real twists, although I did think it ended quite sweetly. It wasn't anywhere near as emotional as I thought it would be either but the ending did get me.

The green alien dudes were the best characters in it, always making me laugh, but sadly I thought the humour elsewhere was lacking a little in this installment. The Ken gay connotations didn't really work for me and although I liked Spanish Buzz, it got a bit tiresome after a while. The Thom Yorke baby was creepy, as was that monkey. There was a lot of tying up in the story though, which I kinda liked, as well as the prison/isolation thing ;-)

I also wish that things had turned out a little differently for the pink bear - there is a metaphor for life in there, sure, which I thought was quite deep, but I was kinda hoping for a transformation thing. Maybe it's just the pink floofy love getting to me - I feel I can empathise with him a little bit. As for the leaving stuff behind thread of the movie, I didn't think it was as emotional as I thought it would be even though it was the dominant theme. But hey, it was a fun movie and I did enjoy watching it so meh - screw the overanalysis. I sound like one of those annoying prudes on Newsnight Late Review (God I hate that show).

*Also I have an Odeon card now to get points towards free cinema tickets (or drinks or popcorn). I am hoping to see Inception next week and Wolfie wants to see the A-Team so it could almost pay for itself within the first few weeks.

1. I am not a cat.

2. I yoinked that pic from a webcomic's downloads section because I thought it was silly.
